What We Do
Open Doors helps Sonoma County residents — and the partners who serve them — find and access the right support quickly and easily. Through our online resource guide and mobile services, we equip individuals, agencies, and staff with the tools and information they need to find food, health, housing, employment, and other essential services.
Our work is rooted in the belief that everyone belongs. We support all residents, including immigrant families, by connecting them to safety net programs that promote wellbeing, stability, and opportunity. The Open Doors Campaign strengthens this commitment by making services easier to understand, easier to navigate, and easier to reach, so every person in Sonoma County can thrive.
Who We Are
The Sonoma County Human Services Department (HSD) is the lead agency for the Open Doors initiative. In response to the Board’s Safety Net Priority, the Sonoma County Safety Net Departments (referred to as the Safety Net Collaborative) is comprised of the following agencies:
Mission
Our mission is to improve access to the services and programs of the safety net, and to help support vulnerable individuals and families move through life’s challenges to greater self-sufficiency and improved well-being.
Vision
Our vision is a community where every person, regardless of circumstance, can access the support they need through a seamless network of compassionate, coordinated safety net services—because there is no wrong door to dignity, hope and opportunity.

Goals
The goals of the Open Doors Campaign are to educate staff, clients and the public about Sonoma County’s safety net services; to strengthen our public and private, non-profit partnerships in the provision of services to meet basic needs of individuals and families; and to promote a Welcoming County culture for all residents in Sonoma County regardless of status to more easily access public benefits and services for which they are eligible.
